The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce’s Business Before Hours will be held Thursday, May 19 at Deans Mill Farm, 1189 Pequot Trail, Stonington, from 7:30–8:30 a.m. Register at www.mysticchamber.org or at the door.
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours will be held Tuesday, May 24 at a Connecticut Sun basketball game at Mohegan Sun, beginning at 6 p.m. The event is $20 for members and $35 for non-members. Pricing increases on May 9 to $25 for members and $40 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased at www.mysticchamber.org.

The Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce will honor Reverend Cal Lord of Central Baptist Church as its 2022 Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year award was established in 1957 to recognize outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to the greater Westerly-Stonington region. Lord is past Chairman of the Clergy Association and has supported many groups such as the Westerly Rotary Club, Jonnycake Center, Town of Westerly vaccine distribution team, Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, Stonington Police and Watch Hill Fire.
Lauren Sposato of Dime Bank will be receive the Chamber’s Key Award. This honor is bestowed to an individual who has helped the Chamber achieve its mission.

GIVING
Jewett City Savings Bank recently announced grants awarded by the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation on behalf of Kevin Merchant, past President and CEO, and Louis J. Demicco, Jr., former Chairman of the Board. A grant of $3,000 was provided to Slater Library, $1,250 was donated to the Jewett City Fire Department and the Griswold High School Athletic Department received a donation of $750. Donations of $1,000 were allocated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Connecticut Humane Society. Three grants of $500 were given to the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation, Project PIN, and Griswold PRIDE. Additionally, two donations of $250 were given to Northeast Opportunities for Wellness and the Living Faith United Methodist Church Community Café. In response to a special request, the Slater Library was granted an additional $5,000 from the foundation for the restoration of the windows on the third floor of the historic library building.
